Message From Our Principal

Message of Welcome

Gifu Prefectural Hida Senior High School

Welcome to the website of Gifu Prefectural Hida Senior High School.

In 2026, our school proudly marks the 140th anniversary of its founding. Since its establishment in 1886 (Meiji 19), Hida Senior High School has upheld the guiding principle of Kakko Fubatsu—an unwavering and steadfast spirit. In 1908 (Meiji 41), our school composed one of the earliest school anthems in Gifu Prefecture, embedding within its lyrics the ideal of Sessatakuma, which signifies the continuous refinement of oneself through mutual encouragement and diligent effort. These two ideals, handed down across generations, remain the enduring pillars of our educational philosophy.

In an age of rapid social change, the ability to live proactively while respecting diverse values is more essential than ever. At Hida Senior High School, we are devoted to supporting our students’ daily academic endeavors so that they may pursue truth in scholarship and realize their chosen paths for the future. At the same time, through initiatives such as the Regional Issues–Based Inquiry Learning Program (Glocal Inquiry Model) and the DX High School Program (High School Digital Transformation Acceleration Initiative), we actively promote inquiry-based learning and interdisciplinary studies that transcend traditional boundaries between the humanities and sciences. Through these programs, students cultivate critical thinking, sound judgment, analytical ability, and expressive communication skills.

Moreover, through participation in extracurricular activities, clubs, and school events, students further develop independence, creativity, and a spirit of collaboration, thereby fostering rich compassion and well-balanced character.

On the day of graduation, students who have acquired the strength and wisdom to help shape and lead future society engage in a unique tradition: the white cords they have tied together are released into the Daihachiga River that flows alongside our school. In this symbolic act, they pledge enduring friendship with the companions who have shared their formative years and then set forth on their individual journeys toward the future.

We invite you to explore this website to witness how our students honor time‑hallowed traditions while continuing to pursue sincere and forward-looking challenges. We thank you for your continued understanding, cooperation, and support of Gifu Prefectural Hida Senior High School.
