Each of our students specializes in one of five departments:
Agricultural Science, Food Science, Natural Forestry Science, Environmental Design, and Horticulture & Distribution.

Agricultural Science 生産科学科
Agricultural Science students receive specialized training in animal husbandry and plant cultivation and learn technical knowledge and skills necessary for raising animals, growing fruits and vegetables, and managing sustainable agriculture. Here’s a fun fact! Agricultural Science students also raise Hida Beef – Gifu Prefecture’s premium brand of Wagyu beef.

Food Science 食品科学科
Our Food Science students gain hands-on training and experience in food manufacturing and analysis and the use of microorganisms in food production. Do you like jam on your morning toast? The Kamo Nourin fruit jams produced by our Food Science students are very popular and are among the fastest selling products at our green shop.

Natural Forestry Science 森林科学科
The Natural Forestry students receive hands-on education and training to become skilled forest conservation specialists. Training specializes in forest management and utilization of forest products, making our natural forestry students not only capable caretakers of natural forests but also skilled craft workers. Lunchboxes, chairs, and tables are just some of the things our students produce using processed wood and other forest products.

Environmental Design 環境デザイン科
The training and education of our Environmental Design students focus on landscaping, civil engineering, and urban development. Students engage in hands-on training to learn about designing, constructing, and managing Japanese and western-style gardens, as well as the conservation of local environments. Here’s another fun fact! Environmental Design students at Kamo Nourin can also acquire qualifications such as the landscaping skills test while they are still at school which is rare for high schools in the prefecture!

Horticulture & Distribution 園芸デザイン科
Our Horticulture & Distribution students train to become specialists in marketing and distribution of agricultural products. Aside from the awesome opportunity to run our school’s green shop, horticulture & distribution students also receive extensive training in the art of flower arrangement and can get national certification as a flower arrangement technician. Watch out for our pop up flower booths around the Kamo Area where you can buy personalized bouquets and fresh flowers prepared by our very talented students!
