Welcome to the Ginan Technical High School website.
Our school was founded in 1943 as “Gifu City Technical High School.” In 1956 it was renamed “Ginan Technical High School” after being placed under prefectural jurisdiction. Our school has a history of more than 70 years and it is the only technical high school in Gifu City.
Our school offers six courses of study: mechanical engineering, automotive engineering, electrical engineering, electronic engineering, architectural engineering, and civil engineering. Currently, more than 850 students are actively engaged in their studies and club activities under the school motto “Practice and Ingenuity.” Our school is located in the south end of Gifu City, in the midst of a culturally rich school zone which neighbors the Gifu Prefectural Art Museum, the Gifu Prefectural Library, and the Gifu City Science Museum.
Our school’s pillars are “build character through craftsmanship” and “build character through club activities.” We encourage students to acquire not only technical knowledge but also a flexible way of thinking along with the skills they will need to make things. Also, through club activities, we encourage students to improve themselves by competing with each other, cooperating with each other, and developing their communication skills. We strive to nurture students who are well-balanced in intellect, virtue, and physical health, so that they may become spiritually rich, creative, practical citizens.
Since the start of the 21st century, technological innovation in the industrial field has been rapidly advancing. In the future, it is believed that these advancements will have a profound influence on social life and social structures. In this environment, it is essential for students to improve their career prospects as workers engaged in the manufacturing industry. It is our school’s aim to provide students with complete and thorough career training guidance as well as opportunities for them to familiarize themselves with advanced technologies and develop their skills as craftsmen. It is our firm belief that our students will be able to realize wonderful careers as talented workers in the manufacturing industry. All of our staff will do our absolute best to help our students realize their individual goals.

Mechanical Engineering Course
This course is for students who wish to become manufacturing specialists. It involves the comprehensive study of machinery, electricity, electronics, and control techniques.
Automotive Engineering Course
This course is for students who wish to become automotive specialists. It involves the study of machinery, electricity, electronics, and chemistry with the aim of giving students the knowledge and skills required for automobile maintenance.
Electrical Engineering Course
Students in this course study not only power transmission and distribution but also electronic technology and automatic control. All first-year students in this course will attempt to take and pass the Level II Electrician Certification Exam.
Electronic Engineering Course
First, students in this course study basic electronic technology. Then, they study the structure and control techniques of telephones, TVs, and computers. Finally, they aim to get many qualifications to be network connecting engineers, radio engineers and information processing engineers.
In this course, students study architectural planning, structure, design, construction, and laws for the purpose of acquiring the knowledge and skills required to construct a building. Students also learn how to use CAD, make model buildings, and weld.
Civil Engineering Course
This course is for students who wish to become a site foreman or certified surveyor. It involves the study of basic dynamics, soil mechanics, and hydraulics. Students in this course also improve their knowledge and skills through practical lessons.
