Location Tajimi Technical High School also known as Kogyo is one of the four high schools in Tajimi City. The City itself is in the Tono Region of the Gifu City. Tono Region is in the south east of Gifu Prefecture. This region is well known for Ceramics. In fact the Mino Ceramic Park can be found in Tajimi city and this park host the International Ceramics festifal, Mino every three years since 1986. The City is also home to one of the national heritages, The Eihoji Temple.
The School
The curriculum in Kogyo is based on technical education and students develop their skills in various technical subjects. As a result there are more male students than females. For the year 2007, the total number of students is about 716 and this number includes the special education or adult classes open to the members of the community regardless of age. In these lessons the most attention is paid to the making of different styles of ceramics. All these students are handled by the total of 75 teaching staff members.
The school has got four sections to cater for four main courses which are Ceramic section, Design section, Electronic Mechanics and Electronic system. Our design section has got one of the best facilities in the prefecture.
Our students in Kogyo also take part in different extra curricula activities such as clubs and sports activities and some of them have taken part in regional and national meetings. Our strongest clubs are Baseball, Boxing and Volleyball. The Baseball club has quite a strong history with the school having produced some profession players and even participated in Koshien in the past. One of the well known players who went on to play in the Japan profession baseball league and even recently his name was put on the Wall of Fame (2006), Mr Takao Kajimoto.
