
Kakamihara incorporates a wide variety of subjects and extracurricular activities to provide a well rounded education for its students. Kakami-hara students are well prepared for the entrance exams for both public and private universities throughout Japan.
We offer a unique curriculum, which allows students to choose one of three courses they want to study. Designed to encourage students to study foreign cultures and the international scene, the English course concentrates on the English language employing a full time assistant English teacher from an English speaking country. The Math/Science Course enables students to focus on physics, mathematics, chemistry and biology as well as taking other classes. The General Course provides students with lessons in all the major subjects.
Whatever a students'personal interest, Kakamihara offers a wide range of club activities from sports to computers. Our excellent athletics program encourages students to take part in a wide variety of sports. From kendo (traditional Japanese fencing) to rugby, students can find a sport they enjoy. We are particulary famous for our soccer team, whichhas won many prestigous awards including being ranked as one the best eight high school soccer teams in the country.
In addition our Biology Club was choosen as one the best high school biology clubs in the country. Club members attended an awards ceremony in Tokyo attended by Akishinomiya, the second son of the Japanese emperor, and his wife. Our Assistant English teacher, currently from the United States, organizes activites for the English Speaking Society allowing students to practice their conversation skills with a native speaker.

COURSES
- GENERAL COURSE
- Students in the general course take classes in all the major subjects such as math,science,Japanese,English,social sciences and so on. In addition instruction is given to help students pass university entrance exams.
- SCIENCE-MATH COURSE
- This course is for the students who have a great interest in natural sciences. The main subjects are math and science. The students enjoy studying and making experiments for the purpose of preparing to enter national universities.
- ENGLISH COURSE
- This is a course for the students who have a fondness for the languages and cultures of foreign countries, many of whom want to play an active part in the international scene. In the language lab they work hard so as to acquire practical English, especially communicative abilities of listening and speaking. This course benefits greatly from our international sister school relationship with Kenmore State High School in Australia. After graduation almost all of the students go on to universities to study literature, economics, foreign studies and so forth.
CLUB ACTIVITIES
- We have clubs for interests in Sience, English, Calligraphy, Fine Arts, Tea Ceremony, Broadcasting, Brassband, Igo, Soccer, Basketball, Volleyball, Handball, Tennis, Track and Field, Table Tennis, Rugby, Baseball, Kendo, Archery and Swimming.
- Kakamihara High School prides itself on active club memberships and some clubs have gained excellent records in National and Tokai District Meets.
