  Where are we Located?

Hida High School is situated in the heart of Japan in the beautiful city of Takayama. Located in the Hida area of Gifu prefecture, it is often referred to as 'Little Kyoto' because of its traditional buildings and streets, and charming old-world atmosphere.

Nestled in the Japanese Alps the surrounding countryside is breathtaking and there is easy access to hiking adventures and winter-sports.

Takayama hosts one of Japan's most famous festivals, held in both April and October every year. You can see a fascinating display of traditional festival floats with intricate detail and decoration. These are displayed on the streets during the day and paraded through the town at night, beautifully illuminated with lanterns. Musicians sit aloft the floats and some feature mechanical dolls or puppets.
