 International Exchange

Exchange with our sister school, Catlin Gabel

   In March 1992, Gifu Kita Senior High School developed a partnership with Catlin Gabel School, in Portland, Oregon, in the United States.  It then formally became our sister school.  Since then, about ten students from each school visit the other every other year.  Through staying with a foreign family and sharing many experiences together, the students come to understand each other.  They also try to get over international barriers to promote goodwill between Japan and the United States.  In 2010, the 10^th visit from Catlin and 9^th visit to Catlin are planned.

   Catlin Gabel School was founded in 1957. It has a kindergarten, primary school and secondary school.  Its students study there under a consistent educational system.  In order to turn out competent young people, Catlin Gabel School gives its students an excellent and challenging curriculum and a wonderful environment for study.

Message from a student

   The students from Catlin Gabel School were very friendly, so we had a very good time. They attended our classes. We sometimes shared our own culture and language with each other. I learned many things from this experience. We spent only ten days together, but I have a lot of precious memories.
