Badminton　バドミントン

Introduction of Club Activities:
Many members of our club started playing badminton after they entered high school. Everyone in our club is practicing hard to achieve his or her own goal. As a team, we have a strong desire to compete in prefectural level competitions.


Baseball　硬式野球(こうしきやきゅう)

Introduction of Club Activities:
Because we want to get into the Koshien, we practice everyday (rest on Saturday or Sunday). Our motto is to be scholar athletes, so even though we only practice for two hours a day, we focus on our practices. To achieve better efficiency, we divide practice into parts, such as fielding basics and strength training.


Basketball　バスケット

Introduction of Club Activities:
Every day, except Wednesdays and Sundays. Besides daily practices, we often play games with teams of other schools.


Handball　ハンドボール

Introduction of Club Activities:
Handball is not so popular in junior high school as we hope it could be, and many people, in fact, don’t know much about its basic rules. However, Gifu High school handball club, have many enthusiastic and promising students who love playing handball in spite of our short history as an officially approved club activity. At the same time, the attractions of handball are more than meets the eye, and we, even the members of the handball club cannot describe its profound attractions in a word.


Judo　柔道(じゅうどう)

Introduction of Club Activities:
We have an effective practice in a short time.
On weekdays, 16:30-17:30 at the martial arts gym.
On Saturday, 9:00-12:00 at Gifu High School of Commerce.


Kendo　剣道(けんどう)

Introduction of Club Activities:
For 2 hours after school, Monday through Friday, and for 3 hours on Saturday.


Soccer　サッカー

Introduction of Club Activities:
We practice from Monday through Friday, and on Sunday, at our school grounds.


Soft Basebal　軟式野球(なんしきやきゃう)

Introduction of Club Activities:
In Gifu Prefecture there are about 20 teams, some of which rank among the top teams in Japan. In the tournament, almost all the games are so close, and every team has a chance of winning the championships. Of course we do!


Soft Tennis　ソフトテニス

Introduction of Club Activities:
We enjoy soft tennis.


Swimming　水泳競技(すいえいきょうぎ)

Introduction of Club Activities:
Summer season (April - October): Monday - Saturday at the swimming pool.
Winter season (November - March): Monday - Friday. In the winter months, we do other activities such as running and muscle-building and use the swimming pool at the Nagaragawa Sports Plaza three times a week.


Table Tennis　卓球(たっきゅう)

Each member has their own goals and practices according to their own schedules.

Introduction of Club Activities:
Weekdays -- 16:00 ～ , Sundays & Saturdays -- 8:30 ～ or 12:30 ～


Track & Field　陸上競技(りくじょうきょうぎ)

Introduction of Club Activities:
For 2 hours after school, Monday through Friday, and for 3 hours on Saturday.


Volleyball(Girl’s Team) (Boy’s Team) 　バレーボール

Introduction of Club Activities:
From Monday through Friday we practice for two days in Gym II and the rest in the Gym I. On Saturday or Sunday we practice or have a practice game for about four hours.

Brass Band/ Wind Orchestra　吹奏楽(すいそうがく)

Monday to Friday after school.


(Japanese)Calligraphy　書道(しょどう)

Introduction of Club Activities:
We practice everyday to prepare for the exhibitions of many kinds. We create a variety of works such as rinsho (practicing after a model) and sousaku (Creating Works). Even if you are a beginner, you will surely enjoy ‘writing’ while you can face yourself as well as the white paper. Come and join us.


Cooking　調理(ちょうり)

Introduction of Club Activities:
Activity: Every Wednesday.


Debating　ディベート

Introduction of Club Activities:
Thursday, every week. Our usual activities are to practice debating and to research on the propositions for the competitions. Every year we take part in two competitions in spring and summer.


Drama　演劇(えんげき)

Introduction of Club Activities:
We only have a few members now, so our main activity is to read scripts in our club room (2nd floor - North Building). We are also in charge of the lighting in the gym during events when the students get together.


ESS (English Club)　イーエスエス

Introduction of Club Activities:
We have club activities on every Wednesday, mainly in the OC room. What we do includes talking with the ALT teacher, and practicing for speech contests. We also watch foreign movies and learn about foreign cultures.


Fine Arts　美術(びじゅつ)

Introduction of Club Activities:
We send our paintings, drawings, and other works to several exhibitions. In addition, we make ceramic art, flag art and motion pictures.


Flower Arranging　華道(かどう)

Introduction of Club Activities:
Activity: Every Wednesday.


Tea Ceremony　茶道(さどう)

Introduction of Club Activities:
Every Monday, after school, the members of the tea-ceremony club learn from our adviser about the basic rules and manners of traditional Japanese tea ceremony. During our school culture festival we hold demonstrations of the tea ceremony while wearing yukata (a cotton kimono for the summer season).


Japanese Chess　囲碁･将棋(いご・しょうぎ)

Introduction of Club Activities:
We play ‘igo’ (囲碁) and ‘shogi’ (将棋) in this club in either our club room (1st floor of the main House) or in the Chemistry Lab. We hold league series among club members before the regular match. We also improve our skills through reading books.


Literature　文芸(ぶんげい)

Introduction of Club Activities:
We publish one or two books every year, in which the novels and other works written by the members are printed. We also do our homework or even read comics and decorate our club room when we have the time.


Music　音楽(おんがく)
Introduction of Club Activities:
We love and enjoy music very much.  Our motto is “soul-stirring music”.  We always sing songs with our whole heart so that we will move everyone’s heart.  We take part in many choral competitions throughout the year and win lots of prizes.


Photography　写真(しゃしん)

Introduction of Club Activities:
We take photos freely in our own way. We want to win a prize in several contests held each year, but whether we win or lose, we enjoy our club activities.
